22 year old, British singer Jorja Smith is finally back after her incredible 2017 grammy-nominated debut album ‘Lost and Found‘ with a new single entitled ‘Be Honest’ featuring a guest verse from Nigerian singer Burna Boy.
The track is much more upbeat than the emotional ballads that listeners swooned over on Jorja’s debut LP, as she sings lyrics of her empowered summer energy. Despite the track being more R&B and radio-friendly than her previous material, Jorja’s vocals still sound as strong and beautiful as ever and the beat is catchy enough without sounding too generic.
I won’t say that Burna Boy’s verse is bad, however if I’m going to be honest, I’m not sure what it adds to the track. It’s a pretty basic and short verse from him and perhaps a rapper could’ve added more to the track. All things considered, his feature doesn’t detract from the positive summer vibes on the single and I’m excited to see if the rest of Jorja’s new material follows the feel of this track.
