Rex Orange County – ’10/10′ Song Review

Rex Orange County is continuing the promo for his much hyped third studio album with the release of new single ‘10/10‘. He first previewed the track in late August, live at Reading and Leeds festival, but we finally have an official studio version. The single still has the unique charm of Rex’s previous material, but a slightly different tone, with a prominent but catchy electric piano tune carries the track along as Rex discusses his personal growth.

10/10‘ is Rex’s second release of 2019, following the track ‘New House‘, released back on Valentines Day. Unlike a lot of Rex’s previous material, rather than just focusing mainly on love and relationships, his new track discusses he desire to better himself, notably through cutting out old toxic friendships that he’s outgrown. The song shows maturity, but is still as creative and fun as his older material.

The song was released with an accompanying music video, which is really different and just as fun as the song. Rex spends a lot of the video behind a keyboard, which is fitting given how the 80s style keys are a prominent feature of the track and something he’s not really incorporated into his music before; there’s even a guitar solo near the end of the track, which surprisingly works really well. The track does a great job at showing Rex Orange County’s development as an artist, and certainly builds hype for his next album, whenever it may be released!
